Love at first Thrift

Hey guys, today I am coming to you from the WSU library. Luckily I snapped some pictures of this necklace yesterday! Sorry I've been lagging on the projects, I have some good ones I've been working on...can't wait to share!

Anyway, I am going to go ahead and call this my first thrifted find ever. You're looking at a piece of history here people! Well maybe not. But when I was about 10 or so my grandpa helped me win a large bag of costume jewelry in an auction in Idaho, and this is one of the surviving pieces.

What was the first thing you ever thrifted?

The first thing I thrifted was a turqoise ring from a flea market with my grandmother when I was about 8 years old. Still have it. I am a true Thrifter At Heart!!!

This is adorable. I love finding great jewelery in thrift stores. My first ever thrifted piece was this gorgeous blue and green necklace made of glass. But do you find that some of the pieces you buy are in need of a good cleaning? I often run into this problem, I won't buy something becuase I'm not sure I will be able to clean it or not. Is this ever an issue for you?

I love the stories and memories! The turquoise ring reminds me of my memory with my grandpa :-)

Sometimes I think the aging makes pieces look more beautiful, but other times a little clean up goes a long way. If the piece is silver its an easy clean with sterling silver solution. Other times a little windex and a tooth brush can work wonders. But ultimately you have to be the judge of what pieces you think still have a little life left in them!
